Subject: smart books

Maybe it's not laptops that will replace textbooks, after all laptops have been around for a while now, and are not extensively used in classroom situations (rather I see more laptops in the libraries for research purposes). Recent magazines have spotlighted "smart book readers", hand held computer screens about the size of a trade paperback, with text modules that contain entire books. I see these as being the potential successor to the text book, lightweight, cost effective, easy to carry. Add to this the idea that an adaptor might be available which would interface with a laptop or desktop computer, and hey, the future of education is here.
