Some things (at least until prices drop and technology improves--paper (i.e., texts) clearly do better--cost for paperback books, ease of making short marginal notes, portability to beach to do English reading, for instance, without worrying about destroying a $1500 laptop!

In some e-books, one could make marginal notes.
The price would be alot less than your $1500 estimate.
Books will always be a great resource.
