Previous discussion in this forum have ranged from the mundane issues of how to (or whether to) get, keep, maintain and provide technology to the philosophical of what the information age means for K-12 education. All are very important and relevant issues to consider. Yet, I have heard little about the role that policymakers should take in this debate.

People involved in public policy could learn a lot from this discussion.
Many of the officeholders who are weighing in on this issue are still stuck in the "gee whiz" or "magic bullet" stage of thinking.
My impression of this forum is that most involved (whether skeptics or believers) are at a much more nuanced stage of thinking and recognize that there is no place for sweeping, blanket statements in a world as complex and varies as K-12 education in this country.
