Subject: Where's the place for public policy?

I would be interested in hearing what the role of public policy should be in this debate? Previous discussion in this forum have ranged from the mundane issues of how to (or whether to) get, keep, maintain and provide technology to the philosophical of what the information age means for K-12 education. All are very important and relevant issues to consider. Yet, I have heard little about the role that policymakers should take in this debate.

I'm sure there are lots of opinions and I am interested in hearing them.
