Colleagues:

It is an interesting conversation that I happened upon today. It already has generated much discussion in one short day. Too soon? Why? As I sit in my office today, everyone of the 28 school districts in the county I serve have SOME laptops for students and several have leased or purchased thousands. Is it "too soon" to bring information to the learner, regardless of where they are? Is it too soon to provide authoring and multimedia tools that allow students to express themselves? Is it too soon to engage in "generative literacy", where students generate their own knowledge? Is it too soon to create these enhancing, cybernetic relationships that strengthen and grow the capacity in the learner to demonstrate their knowledge?

If it is, for what are we waiting? When is the right time?
