Loren Heth
President
Loren Heth currently serves as Chairman for the Niobrara County School District #1 Board of Trustees, completing 18 years of service to his local school district. He and his family have passionately committed to a lifelong belief in a high quality education for all. Demonstrating this belief, Loren has provided time and effort to the Wyoming Board of Cooperative Educational Services in Gillette, WY for many years and to the Wyoming School Board Association as a board member and currently as president.
In addition, Loren has assisted in helping to run numerous high school wrestling tournaments and track meets, sponsoring school dances, donating money to the Parent School Booster Club, taking great joy in handing out diplomas to 8th grade graduates and high school graduates and cheering on the Lusk Tigers in school sporting events. Loren’s son and daughter consist of the 4th generation to attend the Niobrara School District while continuing their educations with a law degree and a pending speech pathology degree respectively.
Loren’s wife, Robyn also a Niobrara County native, is employed as the School District’s Director of Special Education Services. Their efforts are a joint venture sharing the desire to work for the good of education; to include all educational stakeholders and most importantly, the students whom are our future.
Mark Higdon
Executive Director
Dr. Mark Higdon became the Executive Director of the Wyoming School Boards Association on February 1, 2005. Prior to that he was the Superintendent of Schools in the Campbell County School District for the past seventeen years. During his career he was honored to be the 2000 recipient of the Myron Basom Leadership Award and the 1993 Superintendent of the Year for Wyoming.
His educational degrees include a B.A. in English and Secondary Education and a M.A. in Speech and Theatre Arts both from the University of Northern Colorado. He received an Educational Specialist Degree and Doctorate in Educational Administration from the University of Wyoming.
He is the proud father of four wonderful daughters: Paige, a coal miner and mother of his two grandchildren. Marni, a computer programmer, Kitt, a captain ithe United States Marines and Lizz, a pharmacist.
